Honestly, I think AI is more efficient at destroying knowledge and reducing public literacy than any fire.
An argument could be made that, had all the records in Alexandria instead been replaced by outright fiction with no one the wiser, the world would have been set back farther than it was.

Like, not to be hyperbolic, but the way this alteration of information is trending, I would identify it as akin to the burning of the libraries of Alexandria. It might not be long before we are unable to sift the true facts from the slop.
