More than 660,000 North Carolinians are projected to lose their healthcare coverage under the Trump GOP's "One Big" federal budget, which Congress passed earlier this year. The bill effectively kills North Carolina's historic Medicaid expansion, which just passed in 2023.

once again i cannot emphasize enough that transphobia is almost entirely an elite panic. the overwhelming majority of people simply do not care—it is media and political elites who are obsessed with us and keep bending over backwards to justify and spread transphobia.

the idea that trans rights have swung elections to republicans is a fiction made up by media and political elites (both conservative and liberal) who are personally transphobic and want transphobia to be politically popular so they no longer have to hide how disgusting they think trans people are

Some of the last reasons to stay on Windows have been gaming related. Both the time from installation to in-game and gaming performance on Bazzite are now actually better than Windows on many games, and living room usability is more seamless too.

I think we’re going to get some Woodrow Wilson style he’s fine but in the other room resting stuff at some point

He acts like my dad after he got dementia but before he was bad enough for people that didn’t want to see it saw it

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

the only stuff that's done this is weird & compromised (BMW i3) or not available in the US because the subsidies target big batteries, and once you put a gas motor in, your compliance costs go way up.
retronymous.com
not referring to a parallel hybrid where the gas motor is connected to the wheels in any way. You'd have the same performance no matter if the generator was running or not. Obviously it adds complexity and some cost, but absent battery-size based subsidies it could encourage primarily BEV adoption

A 2012 Leaf SV (73mi range, 24kWh) is 3353 lbs while a 2019 Leaf SV Plus (215mi range, 62kWh) is 3811 lbs, and most of the difference is the bigger battery. With cars and SUV's well into the 300's, those batteries get VERY heavy (and force use of heavier suspension/brakes/wheels/tires/etc)
retronymous.com
As not to clutter that thread: the use case is *overall* reduced size and weight, and increased efficiency
EV batteries are about ~15lbs per kWh, so as you add EV-only range without recharging you can add substantial weight and cost. Unfortunately plugin hybrids have mostly been ~40 mi range so far.

For towing, sure. I don’t get the use case for passenger vehicles.
