Code Yikes!

And it's a wrap. The year 2025 came in at 1.47°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline, making it the 3rd warmest year on record behind 2023 (1.48°C) and 2024 (1.60°C), and likely the 3rd warmest in the last 120,000 years.

A fantastic review of LIFE AFTER CARS Via @newrepublic.com

"The authors marshal a compelling blend of history, statistics, and anecdote in support of a quietly radical argument: that mass car ownership, far from natural and inevitable, is a historical blip that can and should be reversed."
The Surprisingly Convincing Case Against Cars
Life After Cars dares to imagine how different, and enriching, a car-free world could be.

If you're one of those who's swallowed the lie that "plants and trees are having a party with all the increased CO2 in the atmosphere and flourishing, it's all good", please read this.

Natural ecosystems ARE vital allies in the fight against climate breakdown, but that can only go so far.
When global temperatures shot up by ~6°C about 56 million years ago, plants were unable to thrive

The reduced ability of vegetation & soils to capture & store carbon may have kept temperatures elevated for >100,000 years

Today Earth is warming ~10 times faster than it did 56 million years ago
56 million years ago, the Earth suddenly heated up – and many plants stopped working properly
It could be a sign of what’s to come.
