No be fair, no one knows Dick Dastardly's actual origins anymore the same way most folks don't know Pegleg Pete was a flat out nazi during World War II
...while technically working for Kaiser Wilhelm in World War I?

Never tell me that Dick Dastardly style mustache twirlers in fiction are unrealistic ever again.

Someone called this vice signaling and… *sigh* yeah.
Weird how many racists like to self-identify themselves as racists.

I wish another author would have the same ideas as me. I get asked “what are the comps for this title” and I have absolutely zero examples
"What if another author has the same idea as you? Don't you worry about it?"

Nope! Hell, knowing me, I will absolutely boost that author's book right alongside my own. Because there is no competition here, only community.

You were incredible, Alice Wong, and it was a blessing to have collaborated with you on projects, to have read your words and to have heard your voice, as full of life and passion and joy and rage as it was.

You made a difference—so much of a difference.

Rest always in peace, and always in power.

This is a wonderful way to grieve: Alice worked tirelessly to raise awareness about why Palestine was a disability justice issue and to raise funds for Gaza.
One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Alice Wong was one of the most effective people challenging the Whiteness of disability communities and its many flaws, but who believed fiercely in us as a community, in disabled people as oracles.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.

The same way my research shows that states that adopted affirmative action bans did so after the public flagship universities had an increase in the share of students of color (an increase that still left White students shockingly overepresented as compared to their share in the state population)
“Gen Z has the lowest racial resentment of any generation ever studied.”

Important work from @jakemgrumbach.bsky.social that offers a clear explanation of why there is an intense push to change school curricula to make them more white supremacist

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

In high school, I wondered why people were poor & checked out a book called, “The Working Poor” by David K. Shipler. At the time, I was also reading, “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston. Reading those 2 in the same time period was the start of me thinking independently & critically.
