A more egalitarian, fairer, better everything Aotearoa is possible . Politicians who refuse to commit to that are not only benefitting from the status quo they’re going into parliament to preserve it. #nzpol

NZ gov - Absolutely not
The Australian government is floating a scheme that would share the benefits of solar power with everyone on the grid, offering totally free electricity to ratepayers in the middle of the day, when the sun is shining the strongest.

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

The NZ Govt is reneging on climate commitments, which could have trade and legal risks for the country. Not to mention contributing to us all frying or drowning.

Just take a minute to consider that Russell Crowe, in his best received performance in years, will face more consequences for playing a serial war criminal than Pete Hegseth currently is for being one.
If we're not at war, Pete Hegseth is a murderer. If we are at war, Pete Hegseth is still a murderer. He's a murderer. And you don't need to go to The Hague to hold him accountable because there are perfectly good, American laws AGAINST MURDER.
My latest in @thenation.com
Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder
No matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

A Narcissist's Prayer

That didn't happen.

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.

And if it was, that's not a big deal.

And if it is, that's not my fault.

And if it was, I didn't mean it.

And if I did...

You deserved it.

Yes that is entirely the point.

Force user-pays on everybody so that the wealthy can have a nice society that the poor aren't able to participate in but have to prop up.
Rates caps may mean more expensive parking, libraries and pools, mayors say
Councils might consider raising fees for things like pools, recreation centres and other community facilities, Wellington mayor Andrew Little says.
