A much tougher government stance than we've heard from some colleagues in recent days.

Section 5(1)(f) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998 (as amended) makes it a criminal offence to knowingly facilitate the production or distribution of sexualised images of children. The problem here isn't the law - it's the political willingnesss to enforce it against X.
My word. (Again.)

Media Minister Patrick O'Donovan: "At the end of the day, it's the choice of a person to make these images... technology is moving so fast... even if the law is changed there's no doubt about... the advances are far faster than law is able to respond..."

Grok's issue is far, far worse than "put a bikini on her." There are huge groups of people on Telegram making it do far worse, then sharing how they did it. It truly is a nonconsensual sexual abuse material machine:

Putting people in bikinis is just the tip of the iceberg. On Telegram, users are finding ways to make Grok do far worse.

After 10+ years of people fighting against it, this government is pushing through this dystopian CETA legislation.

Corporations can and will sue the state for interfering with their profits - for example increasing the minimum wage, against fracking bans, etc.

This is incredibly undemocratic.

If you or I put a private sewer discharging waste into one of our rivers or lakes, there'd be total *hell* to pay.

But a whole industry doesn't just get away with constantly polluting, the government makes a priority of fighting for their right to continue.

The result is our rivers are dying.
Excellent article from @elainemcgoff.bsky.social on the many, many failures that have led us to where we are.

Nobody asked the people of this country if we were willing to sacrifice our waterways so the dairy industry could wallow in profits

Most Irish people want clean water, not a nitrates derogation
Has the Government ever asked the people of Ireland if they agree with pulling on the green jersey to convince Europe to give us another derogation?

The Basic Income for the Arts Scheme is €325 a week, similar to what they gave out during the pandemic. This is how much they've deemed one needs in order to live in Ireland. So why is disability benefit only €244? Why are disabled and sick people expected to live so far below the poverty line?
