This point is extremely important: debates only uncover the facts of a controversial topic when both sides present themselves honestly.

The “debate me” response is an immediate indication that you’re dealing with a dishonest interlocutor. Don’t fall for it.
The more you debate them, the more of your audience's attention you give to them. In debates, emotion always wins. To turn someone anti-immigration, you just need to play into their fears of losing their job. To convince them of the opposite, you need to basically give a 2h lecture on economics. 2/3

In case you didn’t know, this happened because NVidia bought up all the Silicon wafers available in the market.
I built a new computer at the beginning of the year to get ahead of tariffs and apparently this was a brilliant decision not so much because of the tariffs but because I got ahead of the massive RAM price spike

It’s a cold thought, but I really can’t think of another way to interpret a parent’s strong wish that one’s child were different - so strong, in fact, that they’re willing to deny all evidence contrary to their wish.
Back to Stryker, it's interesting how much his hatred of Mutants stems from his wife having the gall to give birth to one.

It's applicable to a lot of things, but the parallel that instantly comes to my mind is parents who hate their Autistic kids so much they become Anti-Vaxxers.

You don’t say.

Many years ago, I interviewed with Palantir. I got a vibe after hearing what they were in the business of doing and deliberately bombed the interview, and now it looks like I dodged a bullet. “War crime profiteering” wouldn’t have been a good look on my resumé.

Am I in favor of, or opposed to, the sky being blue?
