it's the weekend so I must offer my sincerest recommendation of this Amanda Petrusich profile of Phish. A great read if you dgaf about phish/jam bands but an even better one about the craft if you DO www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
After Forty Years, Phish Isn’t Seeking Resolution
People who love Phish do so with a quasi-religious devotion. People who dislike Phish do so with an equal fervor.

This is so cool. Go Blazers!
This is super cool. The Blazers are the first professional sports team to provide OneCourt's haptic display at every home game!
This cutting-edge technology enables fans who are Blind or Low Vision to experience live basketball action in real-time, at no additional cost. #RipCity #Blazers

Kind of a weird kink to admit to. Have fun with that.
I am seeing so many posts on social media about boycotting the inauguration. Don't you dare. Don't you dare turn your eyes away from history, even the awful, scary parts. If you don't watch it with your own eyes, you rely on others to tell you what you saw. We must all bear witness to what's coming

Been getting a lot of people asking about LA geography concerned that the images they see means the entire county is on fire. That's understandable.

But LA is a big place. So, to give an idea of scale it's time to cart this out again. It's a map of LA with other cities superimposed on it.

We are asking Ukrainians to defeat the armies of Putin and Kim Jong Un. In their efforts to do so, Ukrainians helped bring down Assad. Ukrainian resistance is one of the most stunning military achievements in modern history.

Healthy levels of weirdness was a luxury we didn’t know we had.
You can measure an economy's actual, real life, concrete health by: are people able to do their own weird shit?

Do they have money to survive doing their weird shit? Do they have the free time to do that weird shit?

Fuck the metrics, just look for the dirtbags and artists and musicians and writers

I prefer the South Korean model, where legislators are required to be able to scale fence gates in order to do the democracy stuff.
As Dems reelect a spritely 74-year-old Chuck Schumer as Senate Leader, this is a reminder that U.S. politicians are the oldest of any democracy, despite the U.S. having one of the youngest populations.

People, please, understand this:

300km is NOT "long range" missiles. This is still a tactical short range missile.

Missiles with a range greater than 5,500 km are "long range."

Facts matter. Don't say Biden is allowing Ukraine "long range" missiles for Ukraine when 300km is short.
