Whoa.
Incredible story. Garmin has a feature in some of their new glass cockpit systems that can detect if a pilot becomes unresponsive. This weekend it activated in a non-test scenario for the first time www.flightradar24.com/blog/aviatio...

This is why Olympic flag football with NFL players will be hilarious to watch.
You're running up against 300 pound men who can sprint 20 mph. I think the better question is whether you survive.
been thinking about that “if you had 10 carries behind an NFL line, could you get a first down” hypothetical

and the trickier question is this: assuming you don’t slide, could you make it through all ten carries without fumbling

They don’t teach kids what now?
This school, like my kids' school, does not explicitly teach spelling and has taken it out of the curriculum all together.

I kinda think it’s a societal failing that car dealers can openly rip off military service members to the point that it’s a running joke known to civilians like me.

Everyone is automatically hostile to any update or new feature to the point of irrational behavior.
Bluesky folks came up with a fundamentally new and privacy-protecting method of doing this unlike every other service. Almost every negative response is based on how people assume Bluesky is doing this based on how bad everyone else does it. Bad actors have so poisoned the entire market...
v1.112 is live!

We’re launching Find Friends, a contact import feature that helps you find people you know on Bluesky.

Try it! In the mobile app, go to Settings → Find friends from contacts.

This is always a fun thing to see people realize when they are planning a trip or asking how long it would take to drive across county.
If you go abroad, this has to be repeated to people everywhere. It's probably one of the least understood things about our country! For real!

Literally always be carful what you say around journalists.
when you are interacting with a journalist in a professional capacity you are always on the record unless there is an explicit agreement that you are off the record!
CNN suggests Susie Wiles might not have known she was on the record 😆

Rob Reiner was a good guy. He made a lot of movies about good guys, in worlds where not everyone was good and you didn’t have to be good. He made movies about people trying. He was angry, as many hopeful people are. He knew the world could be better and he wanted it to be. His death is devastating.

there is a certain condescension in the idea that “racism should be publicly unacceptable and come with consequences” is an attack on the “working class.”

The article is the end result of thinking that economic class transcends everything including bigotry. It doesn’t and a lot more progressive people really need to understand that.
ah yes, all workers should have the right to hurl racial slurs at black customers
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
