YouGov is out with a new poll after ICE killed another person in Minnesota today. Abolishing ICE is now +5 among all adults, and **+12 among independents**

Pritzker: "An American president should be standing up, calling for calm. That's not what this president ever does. In fact, he wants the temperature to go up. Why? Because what he's looking for is an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act, to bring actual troops into American cities."

Shutting the government down because the president’s thug army keeps murdering American citizens for no reason seems pretty reasonable, IMO!

Exactly. Keep calling. Congress cannot provide one more penny for ICE.

Dems need to push to revoke the tens of billions it already gave through last summer’s reconciliation bill.
Keep calling! It's working. We don't want them to back down.

Correct. Republicans have already appropriated $75 billion for ICE in Trump's ugly reconciliation bill with essentially no guardrails. They don't need any more money and Dems should be pushing to put restrictions or claw back those billions.

The first Minnesota murder, they refused to let a medical professional help the woman they shot. The second Minnesota murder, they simply shot the medical professional.

None of this even starts to get better until our news media starts acknowledging, in print and on TV, the simple objective fact, with video evidence to prove it, that the secretary of Homeland security flat out lied about what happened. There isn’t a “dispute” or “controversy.” She just lied.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.
Do you honestly think people in the civil rights movement and other nonviolent movements faced no violence themselves? They practiced nonviolence because it works, because the oppressor wants a shooting war, which is the war it will win
How's your non-violent working Mr Gandhi stancil? They will kill each and everyone of you right if they had the chance and you will still be writing Kumbaya.

“How are we going to come together” — I don’t know, a stop to Republicans slandering people as domestic terrorists after federal agents shot dead in broad daylight would make a start?
holy shit they are still asking Democrats if they will tone down the rhetoric

If Abolish ICE gives you the vapors, just call it the Bill Kristol doctrine. Sounds moderate to me!
Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

Just staggered by the complete moral void of not even *pretending* to wait for more information before pivoting to “the opponent of the state deserved it.” It is so insanely depraved. Soulless.

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

At a minimum, Democrats must commit to impeaching Noem, Bondi and Bovino, and prosecuting all of them once they are out of office.

If you cannot make a case against a masked militia cell kidnapping and killing across America then you are not fit for elected office.
The argument against ICE isn't an especially difficult one to make politically in this moment. The issue is that people who substantively disagree with abolishing ICE prefer having a proxy fight about strategy to discussing that stance. Many such cases.

We have an executive branch that's on a crime spree against the American public. The other branches of government can use their constitutional powers to put a stop to this. If they decline to do that the only other remedy is in the declaration of independence

How long before both our allies and supposed adversaries teach us a lesson by refusing to buy more US debt? Or move to the euro as reserve currency?
And would that catastrophic scenario finally prompt impeachment or the 25th amendment?
Guess we'll see.

This shouldn't require saying, but we highlight polls at a time like this because 1) it's heartening to see the American people rejecting fascism, which inspires more to join; and 2) because Ds are under pressure from certain quarters NOT to engage, so we need to let them know what the people want.
