It is midnight and my 56th birthday. I am sitting vigil with a man who is dying, so that he will not be alone. That I am still here, with strength and grace enough to care for others, is no small thing. So as life and death intersect in this hospital room, I give thanks for the gift of this day.

There's a drawer on the code cart labeled "GLOVES/ NG TUBES" but every time I see it I read "glovesing tubes." I picture those things to make it easier to put on compression stockings and imagine they exist for getting gloves onto sweaty hands smoothly. Y'know: glovesing tubes.

but I just wanna say that the energy in this town is AMAZING during these post-season runs, and that makes going out in the cold months a lot better.

I regularly used to hijack math classes and use the opportunity to teach algebra. I'll admit there was some occasional grumbling about it, but no one got this bent out of shape.

This is egregious and these workers deserve better.
But also, Jorts' use of "perform" in front of "ski tunes" initially had me picturing a situation in which REI was demanding workers sing festive music without PPE.

Well, we've got a timeline full of voices I'd missed over there (and no spammy crypto ads), a good word spoken by @mousiegril.bsky.social this morning, the KC Current in the semis and the Chiefs in Buffalo this afternoon, and nowhere else I gotta be at this moment. Feeling kinda okay for a minute.
