No as as software developer AI is still complete shit. Even ignoring all the plagiarism and other issues with training it still doesn’t deliver. Even if you try to argue the ends justify the means it doesn’t deliver on the ends. It’s a shitty code firehose.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

I really don’t think we can overstate the harm that the tech ethos of move fast and break things (followed by the unsaid “and then just move on”) has done beyond tech. Government, ngos, universities, public schools that have invited the folks who think like this in keep ending up gutted

This is very key.
The most dramatic speed improvements come from not building entire features that nobody wants. Work very small to get code into your customer’s hands as quickly as possible, and then get feedback from them in a continuous conversation. Why build things nobody cares about?

It was never about free speech it was about freedom to be as racist and bigoted as possible and face zero consequences.
The party that promised "free speech on campus" has made sure there can be no free speech on campuses.
This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.
