You’re absolutely right — you are Pagliacci. It would certainly be difficult for you to attend your own performance! I should not have given such paradoxical advice, and I apologize deeply for the error. There is no excuse for my failure.

The MAGA cult is so far gone that they truly believe Dear Leader should be allowed to kill their own children.
On “The Necessary Conversation” podcast, Chad’s Trump supporter parents tell him the military should follow Trump’s illegal orders and kill everyone in LA if Trump commanded it — even with him and his sister in the city😳

A roll of aluminum foil is maybe one of the most incredible things you will ever hold in your life. That was a creation for kings and you wrap it around food and throw it in the dumpster. You talk about planes as aluminum cans, as if both are not one of the most incredible creations in history.

That time, ~400 years ago, when Jesuits dragged a new world turkey nearly 2,000 kilometers from Goa to northern India.

Fun, but also reflective of premodern India's integration in global networks of trade and travel.

I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

17 November 1988 'Cinema Paradiso' (in Italy 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso') goes on general release in Italy. It is a total flop everywhere, except in one cinema in Messina and, maybe, it only goes on to win an Oscar due to the determination of Giovanni Parlagreco, owner of that cinema [Thread] >> 1

For the life of me, I will never understand why Alan Moore and @jacen-art.bsky.social 's Neonomicon/Providence does not get lauded as one of the greatest works in literary horror. It takes HP Lovecraft's life, work, and complicated legacy and making you see them in a new light – a masterpiece.

Cementing my trait as a people-pleaser and a man of culture, I pronounce "gif" as "jagoff".
For the record, I have all my life been pronouncing "gyre" with a g-sound and not a j-sound, and I understand that the j-sound version is recognized as the "correct" version, WHICH IS WRONG, also it's "gif" with a "g," anyone who says otherwise is a plant for Big J

A thread about the special Meiko Kaji appearance at Beyond Fest '25 and how pal and MK SuperFan @rfranklin15.bsky.social got to (finally) meet her in the flesh. Truly a landmark event, and I feel lucky to have been there!
Want to take a minute to wrap up my thoughts about Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子) being at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles last week.

Meiko did 3 Q&A sessions and 5 of her movies were screened across 3 nights, October 2, 3 and 4.

(Pictured here is a scan of the BeyondFest card for Meiko)

This is an actual exchange from a VP who took an oath to defend the constitution and, as a citizen, is expected to abide by the law.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.

I feel like many "important thought leaders" are missing in their "critiques" of "blueskyism" is that the point of social media is to socialize, not to glaze the powerful.
