GenAI being fundamentally based on a rejection of consent is obvious, but it's not as obvious that it destroys the inhibitions of the people who already reject consent.

It makes them act in public the way they used to only act when cornering their employees by the punch bowl or in their office

THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.
meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??

between this and renewable energy outstripping fossil fuels in efficiency, the future is bright
Wanna see real-life miracles? Fund scientific research.

A team of US scientists just cured Alzheimer’s in mice — and there is now hope that the disease can be reversed in humans.

Please share this widely. There have been 13 peer-reviewed critiques of the Cass Review, to the extent that academia regards it as pseudoscience, but so far all have been subject to organised censorship by mainstream media. This is the first time one has broken through. Oz Guardian only still.
Worked hard to get this into Guardian Oz & big props to @fiercemum.bsky.social for setting it up & Melissa Davey for publishing it. She will doubtless get loads of hassle from transphobes for it, but it needs to be out there.

Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

That, uh... seems like not what I'd want from a proofing tool?

As passed on by my brother... this seems a little embarrassing for a $400 / £350 flagship collector's set, LEGO!

Possibility of a running change and/or customer service replacement for people buying in the three-day FOMO window? (Not me, FWIW.)

Pedantry alert: "This <thing> comprises of <component parts>" - no.

"Comprises" or "is comprised of", please, but I think what you actually meant was "consists of". Or you could just say "contains" or "includes" if you're not listing every component!

Laika are so good at their process, it's getting genuinely difficult to tell the difference between retouched physical puppetry and pure stylised CG.
First look at "Wildwood" new stop-motion feature film by Laika studios.

Out browsing TFs in Smyths today; stood behind mum & small child. Mum is scanning the shelves, asking who the child likes, remarks: "Is there an Optimus?" And it dawned on me that no, there actually wasn't. And that kinda seem like TF sales 101, that there should *always* be an Optimus.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
