Gotta say, Blade Runner has to be the movie I've seen the most times in the most versions without actually really liking any of them that much. Great production design good acting doesn't really save it from being kind of dull overall.

Went to see Sin City in Seoul, where it was shown with Korean subtitles. Turned out none of the over the top, hard boiled humor translated, so every Korean in the audience was staring at the Americans laughing their asses off at this sick torture porn movie.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?
Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I read a book on making money in ancient Athens recently (by Michael Leese, it's great), and the Greeks absolutely believed that the endless pursuit of wealth was a serious moral defect and personality issue no different than being a drunk or sexual deviant.
If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.
