How about you allow referendum by public vote, like we do in Ireland for our constitution.

We had a voted ban on abortion. A girl was raped and the constitution stopped her leaving the country, lest she had an abortion.

We immediately had a vote and let women travel no matter what.

Yes - Isaac Asimov reached a similar overall conclusion. Carl Sagan was deeply concerned about the "glorification of stupidity" in his book "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark" (1995).

A small reminder that Ukraine is already a democracy and that they don't exactly need elections right now in the middle of a defensive war against Russia and its eternal Dear Leader and his team of creative idiots in the Kremlin.

They complain about any change to car access to Dublin, as if it was the end of the world, but when Public Transport has an issue...

"Around 72% of customers who shop in Dublin city come in via public transport, according to CEO of Dublin Town and member of the Dublin City Taskforce Richard Guiney"

Nursing home place secured for my Mother today. Moving in next week. Delighted for her, new lease of life hopefully.

Bittersweet at the same time.

FIFA didn't need help to stoop so low. It's a disgusting organisation.

Did anyone find anything redeeming about the World Cup Draw?

In some ways, a peace prize is a a good joke. The lads interviewing in Spanish was priceless.

I am proud to be Irish!
Ireland should be doing more for Palestine, boycotting the genocidal state of Israel on every level: trade, sporting, and cultural links.

But RTE's stand on the Eurovision is still cause to be proud.

This should be a wake up call for all the walking in dark neutrals in Ireland.

War will come to us *because* we are neutral. Putin can kill in Ireland and its not an attack on NATO. He can cut deep sea cables in our waters that connect the world.

Fact: When the plane gets raised to 30 metres, our crane then spins around rapidly until it reaches launch velocity and we cut the rope. This saves up to 65% of the fuel normally used in a conventional take off.

Nothing - and I mean nothing - beats a black pudding and fried tomato blaa in JJ's Truck Stop at Youghal Bridge when you're off on a booksigning trip

This is the book I read in the 1980s, that woke me up. My Mother gave it to me, after reading it herself.

Amazing.

Heart of the Wren is my first book set in Ireland and features a lot of words, phrases, and even some people that might be unfamiliar to anyone who, well, didn't grow up in 1980s Ireland, I suppose. So I've written a blog post about it.
Everyone loves blogs, right?

I used to like Campbells Soup fulls, a soup / pasta combo, sold in a pouch, suitable for work. One day I looked at the salt content....

1 pouch contained as much salt as SIX AND A HALF bags of the SALT & Vinegar crisps that I like ........

I could eat an entire 6 pack and ingest less salt
