"we USE ai, but our game wont CONTAIN it" is a clarification that no one has ever cared about & now CEOs are using it as a wedge to get their foot in the door as a part of a long term plan into normalizing AI, just like how 'it's just placeholder' was used with E33. dont cede even an inch of ground

Thinking about this as I assemble class materials for spring. There’s the usual debates around what role narrative *structure* has (whether RPGs “tell a story” etc)
I often hear about what roleplaying can give us (& its risks) because we bring our selves along — but less about what loss/tradeoff.

If roleplaying IS like other kinds of fiction -- a way to think about lives NOT our own & not just "alternate universe" or "what-if" versions of our lives -- then we need to expand our horizons and tastes.
Getting beyond power fantasies & into other fantasies is only step one.

Been thinking this morning about how if you're a US freelancer and you haven't increased your rates by about 6% since June 2025, you're taking a pay cut.
