My god, this. Professionalism is a gatekeeping scam.
I've become so disillusioned by professionalism cuz I've "started over" so many times thinking a new field would be a new start, only to see ppl are still doing the same shit.

Virtue, and harsh, reliable social sanctions for certain specific things. Virtue and shame

And, like, I think a lot of bigotry comes from an impulse to avoid perceived threats by grouping people in ways that dehumanize them and strip their agency and personhood. When I say we need more emotional maturity, I say it partly because I think it would reduce that impulse and its consequences.

It really sucks to see someone fall down a bigotry rabbit hole over legitimate trauma that she doesn't process in a healthy way.

Also I really want to know why "_____ critical" came to mean "such a zealot for the status quo that I see deviation as personal oppression."

By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).
