I’ve read a bunch of stuff but one of the most clear headed pieces was the MN StarTrib sports column by Jim Souhan and the part that sticks with me is just a half sentence in the middle alluding to the obligation of pro sports team owners to the safety of their workers (think arena cleaning staff).

The Minnesota Star Tribune has identified 17 instances of federal officials violating judicial orders related to people detained in Minnesota.
Star Tribune analysis: Feds disobeying judicial orders on immigration detainees
The federal government cites a glut in cases and low staffing as reasons for violating court orders.

The terror that ICE and CBP have inflicted on the children of the Twin Cities is, by itself, a crime of scandalous proportions that will forever stain this country's moral fabric, and all those responsible should never know another day of peace. www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.

Years from now, it'll be difficult to explain the things people in media were wailing about before all this. Sophomores writing underconsidered op-eds about cultural appropriation. Protests against demagogues on campus. YA drama. "Mobs" on Twitter. These were the threats to free society.

This is a mostly good, extremely well-written #longread. A couple parts that struck me: the pastor whose congregation is doing championship work right now noting they all voted for what’s oppressing them, and author pressing Frey on residents wondering where MPD is.

“We attempted deescalation techniques (having six armored officers beat the man senseless, taking away his gun, and pepper spraying him). Unfortunately he was still resisting (alive), so we were forced to escalate (shoot him five times in the back).”

“What was his crime?”

Noem:

"An individual approached US border patrol officers... The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently."

Video footage from multiple angles proves that this is outright bullshit.

Alex Pretti did not approach ICE officers nor did he react violently.

Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse serving veterans. He died trying to protect protestors being assaulted. A group of anonymous & masked men fired chemicals into his face, beat him, disarmed him, and shot him in broad daylight in front of witnesses. Then his government smeared him & defended his murder.

“ICE > MN” is the clearest, most honest statement of policy we have gotten from this fascist administration about this awful endless occupation. We are the enemy. Their invading army is allowed to do whatever it wants to us. The idea that they’re here to protect us is FICTION

Our fascist leaders explicitly declaring that their untrained paramilitary of goons, a two-decade agency whose massive budget funds thugs in hoodies and body armor with rifles, is more important than an entire American state of 6 million people.

Our initial analysis is up.

The video footage appears to show that the gun was taken away from the man before he was shot.

He was UNARMED before any of the shots were fired.
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

Where is our national press? The government has been shooting at and harassing clergy for months. This used to be a red line. The reality is their red line moved, not yours. They’re cowards.
ICE attacked an observer after they tailed a group of clergy on a spiritual pilgrimage.

Our digital producer @sam.vp just so happened to be with the clergy on their journey. He spoke with the observer who was attacked and others who witnessed the assault.
