Whatever problems you're experiencing in your life and in our country, I promise you that undocumented migrants are not the source. Harassing, detaining, and deporting migrants will not alleviate your problems. Leave them alone.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Force won’t fix what people are protesting and you can’t ‘protect democracy’ by attacking it.

ICE raided Los Angeles elementary schools in an attempt to kidnap small children. They hid their identities, claimed they weren't ICE, and lied to school authorities that they had "permission" from the parents to take the children out. School officials luckily didn't fall for it.

1 in 35 Americans live in LA County.

LA is America
not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

If Trump can claim a "national emergency" to disappear legal residents without due process, what’s to stop him from doing the same to U.S. citizens who oppose him?

No one is safe — not even people legally in the country, possibly not even American citizens.

Fascism is here.

I can hear the sirens coming down FWY 10. Trump has just deployed the Marines to Los Angeles. I hope this is the end of him and that good people do the right things in this moment. Turning the military against our entire city is beyond. Don’t let his attempt at martial law in CA be the playbook.

Sending 700 Marines to LA is an unacceptable militarization of our streets and a poor use of our troops’ time. Using the military to intimidate protesters violates the principles this country stands for. This overreach must stop before it causes irreversible harm.

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)
