I love when you tell people how terrible Newsom is, they're always like, "Well, it's nice to have ideals, but if it comes down to him or the Nazi in the general, *I* am going to vote for him"

WE'RE TELLING YOU HOW TERRIBLE HE IS NOW SO IT'S *NOT* A CHOICE BTW HIM & A NAZI, CARL. THAT'S THE POINT.

If I were a Democrat who wanted to run in 2028 and had even a shred of moral clarity and understanding of where we are at this time in history I'd be salivating at the prospect of running against the podcasting governor who's hosting ben shapiro in the year 2026

I don't think people realize how quickly self-sorting is happening as the middle evaporates.

You're either 100% behind the resistance or you're a fascist collaborator.
We are so far past the Rubicon that it isn't worth having a discussion anymore as to whether Trump is acting as an authoritarian. The only question is whether we have the strength and courage to get back to the other side.

Schumer needs to be defeated as leader in January 2027.

There is real rancor in the caucus with him; this is an achievable goal.

Call your senators, ask your candidates - do not support Schumer for leader.
Just got this forwarded. Here are the talking points Schumer's team just emailed out to their allies TODAY - this afternoon.

The words "Minnesota" or "ICE" don't appear anywhere here.

elected democrats who want their constituents to remain non-violent in their protests of these abuses must actually offer a path for ending the abuses non-violently. they currently are not as a party and it’s a major problem.
🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.

And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”

Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

if you try to focus on Trump’s authoritarianism, Schumer will deflect and say people want us to focus on affordability. but when Zohran Mamdani made affordability the heart of his campaign Schumer refused to endorse him because they disagree about Israel. it’s all mealy mouthed bullshit.

the question to ask about this is, okay, he wants to cancel the midterms. how does he get the VA state board of elections to cancel the midterms? how does he get the georgia board of elections to do it? how does he convince republican house members to quit their jobs and give up their paychecks?
Trump says a lot of deranged shit, but, per this Reuters article — and the threats of invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota this morning — he is very clearly exploring how to cancel the midterms.

Not to be too hyperbolic but I feel like price discrimination at this granular a level, if done at scale, kinda takes a sledgehammer to some of the fundamentals of microeconomics.

Just so people outside of MN know - a lot of the US citizens getting “arrested” by ICE never get processed at Whipple. They are roughed up during the arrest and then often dropped off miles from where they were picked up. It means we don’t know the true scale of what ICE is doing based on ICE stats

I genuinely think most Americans including politically involved news junkies learned about authoritarianism from dystopian fiction rather than history or literature written by people from authoritarian societies and it shows.

the people of MN have been murdered, brutalized and kidnapped for weeks now and have remained *amazingly* peaceful in the face of it. lecturing citizens to not “take the bait” etc is pretty disrespectful after a point and avoids the real question: how long are they supposed to take this, undefended?
State investigators have been on the scene in North Minneapolis.

I know you’re angry. I’m angry. What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets.

But Minnesota will remain an island of decency, of justice, of community, and of peace.

Don’t give him what he wants.

I give Republicans credit for flexing power when they have it - clearly for all horrible reasons but they do what they want and are bold (and reckless) and unapologetic.

Compare this to the Democratic Establishment and it's utter timidity, weakness, sloth and fecklessness.

What's their excuse?
