Let me give you a thought experiment:

Imagine not just a ban on qualified immunity for authority, but a reversal; a new legal framework, under which authority bears greater responsibility than civilians in matters involving force—as it should.

Absolute Immunity
Alignment with supremacy is a vile choice. Raising the natural costs for those who make that choice by putting first things first.

This sort of energy we need going forward. President Obama and Biden both were mistaken to not prosecute those who committed torture, committed fraud and broke laws in the financial crisis during Bush 2 years and obviosly all the Trump attempt to overturn the election and stealing classified docs.
I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

It’s chronologically impossible, but Miles Davis’ “Calypso Frelimo” kinda sounds like a Latin funk jam built around the bassline to one of the ghost house levels from Mario.

the somali people will always be in minnesota. they will always be in america. they are minnesotans and americans; they are our community and there is nothing the gutter racist trash in the white house is going to do that will change that
evil people have won a big battle, and they will do an incredible unjustifiably large amount of damage along the way, but they are fighting an impossible war. they will not win because they cannot win. they are standing in the ocean fighting the tides.

The humble Ghiradelli box mix brownie handily wastes so many more highfalutin desserts. An unreal product.

Nice try, Gmail. I resented your pre-sorted tabs when they rolled out, and I think I'm smarter than spell check. Disabling these features to avoid training your AI is nothing to me.

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

The political pundits that have been trying to get you to sell out other human beings as a power move to win elections are both intellectually and morally bankrupt.
Decision Desk has called the New Jersey governors race for Mikie Sherill. Yet another state where millions of dollars in anti trans ads didn't work.

Baked an apple cake last night. Man, I get a true thrill out of putting each baking ingredient away as you use them in the recipe, so the kitchen gets less messy as you go. Feels like a magic trick.

Hard to find a more obvious example of the journalism adage “If someone says it’s raining outside and someone else says it isn’t, your job is not to quote them both, your job is to go outside.”
A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

A must read thread!
1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that
