I don't want thick blood pouring through my heart. I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?

it's amazing we can look at this, as a society, seeing that employers are drugging their employees to increase productivity and say "yes, these people are geniuses who should be in charge of things"

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

A teacher who’s thought about how to counteract the harm reliance on AI does reading and writing has done infinitely more for their students, and has adjusted more informedly and critically to “the challenge of AI,” than the umpteenth online pundit saying “it’s here, employers want it, so use it.”

It’s also comically self-serving to pretend that the path of least resistance is somehow the most if not the only mature response to a massively disruptive and destructive marketing campaign, or that job-market rhetoric constitutes an intelligent, even philosophical stance on technology in society.

There’s no pitch for genAI in the classroom that doesn’t boil down to “it’s everywhere,” or that takes education as more than job training, or, consequently, that actually argues for genAI as a tool that has a distinct function in education.

It’s not educators who have their heads in the sand here.

This … isn’t true though? The segment wasn’t censored due to government interference, it was internal meddling. If the segment was pulled any earlier it would have been censored in Canada too.
