kinda seems like what happened is that Bradley correctly understood that he was being ordered to commit war crimes but did not anticipate that anyone would later distinguish between the types of war crimes he was willing to commit
But it does worry me a little bit to see military officials angry about Bradley being thrown under the bus without a concurrent acknowledgement that he did in fact commit an obvious war crime.

Okay, so I've wondered quite a bit about this too, so I am glad I am not hallucinating. (Setting aside that "war crimes" is kind of a weird concept anyways because war involves killing people, which is bad, but you know.)
one of the problems I have with Democrats (and other critics) labeling these "war crimes" is that it accepts the underlying claim that the people being murdered are enemy combatants. They're not! it's just murder!
