Eurovision next year will be an absolute dumpster fire and everyone involved should be ashamed.

The Australian artist that takes part is going to do huge reputational damage as well.

Classic Labor
The last time I wrote about this I copped the biggest whinge fest from the then (Labor) minister’s office about how they weren’t cutting the budget lol
That's more than 1,100 jobs lost at the CSIRO over the last two years.

"Combined, the staff association estimates that equates to cutting the agency’s size by a third."

This is more cuts to the CSIRO than was attempted by the Abbott government.

It was so much fun presenting this story at last year's MQFF symposium. Chuffed to have it included in the dossier.
"Secretly watching “Secretly” was a queer transformative act."
My Formative Queers Special Dossier co-editor, Stuart Richards @stuartrichards.bsky.social, offers a queer reflective reading of the music video for Skunk Anansie's 'Secretly':

The Adelaide Queer Film Festival has now opened!! Come see some wonderful super queer films over the next few days at the Piccadilly.

It's been an absolute privilege to curate the program with my queer film comrade Jess Pacella

Currently doing some marking. A reminder to everyone involved in archives and collections: digitisation is not preservation. If I digitise a box of records and put the files on a USB stick I haven't preserved a thing. It's all about what you do with the files post-digitisation. #archives #digipres

Something is missing here.... But I can't put my finger on it....
New Jersey and Virginia have chosen well by electing
@mikiesherrill.bsky.social and @spanbergerforva.bsky.social as their next governors!

They are proven leaders who won by focusing on what matters most - how politics and policy can make everyday life better and more affordable.

Grog's rule of privatisation:

"The day you decide to allow the private sector deliver a public service is also the day you should set the future date for the Royal Commission into abuses in the system."
Adele Ferguson (journalist leading an ABC investigation into child abuse at childcare centres) just told ABC AM that 84% of child abuse occurs in "for profit" (eg privatised) centres.

These centres are putting making money ahead of checking for pedophiles. Who cares about pedos? There's $$ to make

The electorate voted for a senate that has a majority of ALP and Greens.

Murray Watt and the ALP are choosing instead to write laws that will please the LNP and mining companies.

This is not the outcome a majority of Australians voted for.
I’m getting weary of this. This government is representative of what the people of this place want. The argument is with all of us. Turning it into a constant personalised political snipe belittles the nature of the problem.
Thanks to Murray and his ALP pals, weather reports like this will become increasingly scary and weird

I just finished the audiobook for Darcy Green's After the Siren and it was an absolute delight. It's so refreshing to read an Australian gay story that isn't entirely dour.
