I know I keep posting about this but every time I check, the list gets longer and longer and longer. Hundreds and hundreds of places, everything from huge local institutions to small spots that will definitely struggle.

No exaggeration, it's the most astonishing act of solidarity I've ever seen.
there are a bunch of big names on this list, including multiple beard award winners, and some places i never would have guessed in a hundred years (the malt shop?!) and i'm genuinely floored and delighted to see so many participants

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Canada, like Europe, must step up its defences as well, we now live in a world where the possibility of an open war with the United States, Israel, the Arab states and Russia vs the free world is on the table.

NOW THEY ARE USING FOOD AS BAIT.

We thought using a 5 year old as BAIT was the bottom. We were wrong.

ICE agents are distributing flyers at Anne Sullivan STEAM School in Minneapolis offering Food Support to families.

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.
Analysis by The Marshall Project of ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project found that the Trump administration’s revival of family detention has swept thousands of children into ICE custody. At least 3,800 children under 18, including 20 infants, have been booked since Trump took office.

Abolish ICE. Destroy their weapons and melt down their equipment. Deny their agents, employees, and bosses all government employment for all time. Remove the agency entirely from the budget and give the money to public libraries and free health care.

ICE is seriously going to be Gaza all over again for Democrats isn’t it. They’re going to try it again, insisting if they just don’t talk about it then it’s not actually an issue that matters to millions of voters.
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.

Chuck Schumer now sees a path back to the majority. Can he manage his way through it?

The beating heart of a fighting labor movement is in Minnesota. One of the key battles for the future of working people will be determined there. Trump’s goons are treating their assault on the state as a workshop for what to do next. Solidarity is the answer.

But being clear eyed involves acknowledging those conditions are bad precisely because they make situations like the Present Moment / demagogues like Trump more likely. So people concerned about centrist/lib complacency are very much self-undermining if we minimise the relative badness of the latter

I think centrists and even some of the more lib ish libs very much underestimate the extent to which conditions leading up to Trump and the Present Moment are, like, causally responsible therefore. We should not therefore want to reestablish that normality.

This is correct

I've seen this exact belief expressed innumerable times in white supremacist rhetoric, literature, and social spaces

It's not a new belief either. It's depicted in The Turner Diaries & well before that.
A big part of the current right wing belief system is that everyone is actually just as bigoted as they are, and are only pretending not to be as a public performance ("virtue signalling").

They genuinely thought once they started doing open racism, everyone would join in
