Every disturbing news report about a wrongful deportation or military-style raid of an apartment building should come as a reminder that the US government is using its prosecutorial discretion—it is choosing—to normalize casual cruelty and overt racism.
A year of hell for immigrants
In the first Trump administration, cruelty was the point. Now, it is the norm.

Any publisher that makes you do this is not a publisher you should work with.
It’s so nuts that some indie publishers make u crowdfund ur own book tho like what service are they providing in that case

Excellent advice. I have been doing this for my writing and I am always amazed how well this works to find problems.
I always tell students to do this. I read my novels aloud (more than once) before they are published. Not only helpful for catching mistakes, but also for finding writing that doesn't flow.
I tell my students the easiest way to catch mistakes is for them to read their papers out loud, and they always look at me like I'm insane.

But look, that's what we do with our own books! Because it works!
