This is both 100% accurate and also points to how out of touch the league is with respect to how the game is viewed in Europe.
I understand how Ballon d'Or voting could be involved in the new High Impact Player system, but will also be irritated by it every day for as long as the system would be in place.
Ballon d'Or voting is consistently, egregiously flawed when it comes to NWSL, due to its nomination process.

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone moved on pretty quickly from the fact that Lilly Reale absolutely should have been sent off in the second half, and likely would have been if a) Gotham had already scored, or b) this was a regular season game?

This. In a game being played as tightly as it was, with both Deb and Narumi on the bench as options, you cannot play with 10 and give them possession/momentum, and you cannot leave her there when she’s clearly hurt. I love Adrian but that one is on him.
As for the Washington Spirit ... hard not to look back at Adrian Gonzalez's decision to leave Hal Hershfelt on the field and feel like that was a mistake. It was hard to watch her return to the field in visible pain.
