TN05 in the general is even more potentially doable so tomorrow we get up and start working for Chaz Molder to win 335 days from now. We rest and we keep building. We hit up d7 backers to phone bank and stuff envelopes and even go knock doors since 5 is part of the same city. We do not quit.

my paternal grandma's famous (frozen) yeast rolls
My grandma, a southern woman who definitely knew how to make a biscuit, would melt butter in a cast iron pan, pop in pillsbury biscuits so they'd touch each other, put butter on top, bake it, and say "This makes it taste the same as homemade but now we've saved 20 minutes."

I thank her for this.

i am fond of the term "journosphere" or some variation thereof because there are a lot of journalism-adjacent people in important fields. tech philosophers, law philosophers, etc. some are full-time writers. most are not. they are profiled, interviewed, quoted, cited, followed, used on background &c
Can never quite tell, when people want to condescendingly dismiss my opinions, if they’re going to do so because I’m “just a coder”, because I’m a “tech bro CEO”, because I’m an asshole New Yorker, or because I’m an out of touch journalist (I’m not a journalist, but all writers are “journalists”).
I know that you, as a developer, are unable to see AI as an enormous problem because devs do not think outside their IDEs, but providing a browser with "safe" slop faucets over a browser that has "unsafe" slop faucets is a false choice.

It would be SO easy for them to not do this.

i made it well into season 2 of moonlighting and quit because it sucks. the main characters suck. they still don't have a real detective agency in S2 and it's really not clear how they're paying employees. every attempt to get money fails comically. it's a gag show, but not my kind of gag show.
the pilot was bad! everything i hated about growing up in the 80s in a nutshell. i will keep watching tho. didn't get the full theme until the start of episode 2. still don't really remember it.

watching stuff from my chidhood/earlier always makes me feel bad for the actresses. twas rough out there
i temporarily have access to mealtime viewing again and i decided to revisit my childhood by watching moonlighting

i don't remember the theme music at all. but i know i watched it sometimes when i was a kid because my mom watched it, and i think dad watched it with her basically. it aired late ish.

apple pie is basically the only modern-traditional thanksgiving pie that i like. the other main ones are pecan and pumpkin, which i do not like. also don't like sweet potatoes or cranberries or cherries or coconut
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

This TDoR, I'm thinking about Elisa Rae Shupe, who died by suicide in January of this year. It's been hard for me to think about Elisa; she did what she did because she believed it would call national attention to a crisis, and it didn't. Stay alive, because death saves no-one, especially not you.

some dude argued with me about the definition of shonen as an age group today. he doesn't know the secret dokkan lore. the "youth" category is 少年・少女 "shōnen・shōjo" in japanese. let's see who's on it and who isn't.

on it
bulma @ 16
kuririn @ 16
goku @ 15
pan @ 3

not on it
goku @ 18
trunks @ 17

really starting to think larry was the source for hillary chabot's 'diversity hire' story. it wasn't super hidden, but odds are someone brought it to her attention. either way she definitely didn't report that one out. relatedly...

Trump and Republicans refuse to extend ACA tax credits, meaning that millions of Americans will see their premiums skyrocket next year.

I’ve got a solution: let’s get rid of premiums altogether and pass Medicare for All!

exactly. we get a lot of criticism for being strict on reddit and discord, and “your community would be bigger like x server/subreddit if you weren’t so strict” and i’ll be like, i have seen that community, and it sucks because its full of edgy, shitty children who have no fear of consequences. pass
Having shipped numerous MMOs over the course of the years, let me tell you that having and using the ‘fascistic’ power of moderation is crucial unless you want to have a 4chan style den of nazis and child porn instead of a viable business.
It's not linguistic loopholes. It's that power is inherently fascistic. It's impossible to be an admin of anything from a major social media platform to a tiny MUD and not turn into a enormous butt-hurt wimp. It's impossible to have the power to delete without using it.

great expectations by dickens. it was the first fiction book i started reading and couldn't finish. i think it was the first fiction book i didn't like. i was so uncritical. when i found out we were reading the abridged version in class, i went to the library and got the full book. huge mistake
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

This is deeply misleading. The agricultural section of the bill does NOT ban hemp-derived cannabinoid products that contain less than .3% THC total. www.cannabisbusinesstimes.com/hemp/news/15...
November 11, 2025 at 5:53 AM
🧵
"Hemp"-derived products that contain only CBD will continue to be legal, and any state that's legalized cannabis will still have legalized (and regulated) cannabis. This is just to close the loophole that resulted in some dangerous products being technically legal.
