This is terrifying in America. ICE agents are showing up masked—these abductions must stop. If you’re going to detain someone, show your face, present a warrant, and proper ID. Disappearing people from their families without evidence or accountability isn’t law enforcement—it’s state-sponsored fear.

Random Tarot Card - IX(9) of Swords - Reverse Despair - Anxiety - Anguish Ed felt a grin break across his own face, but just as he raised his hand to wave, Stede's attention was drawn from him by the sudden arrival - or return, Ed supposed - of a woman with an arm full of cereal boxes and a smaller child at her hip. Stede's child? Were those Stede's kids? Was that Stede's… The woman looked in Ed's direction. Stede said something Ed couldn't hear, but it made the woman roll her eyes before turning away, presumably to continue shopping. Ed wouldn't know. He was already walking out of the shop, cart and pineapples abandoned.

Day 6
alive - casual - time Ed was standing in front of the pineapples, feeling them each without really knowing what he was meant to be looking for, when a familiar voice startled him. It was followed by an unfamiliar laugh. He'd never heard Stede Bonnet laugh before, not freely. Stifled chuckles, choked by (admittedly beautiful) neckties and shirt-collars. Not this time. Bonnet had a loud laugh. he sounded genuinely happy. Alive, even. And he looked… Well, Ed had never seen Stede Bonnet in casual clothes, either. He wore them well. Slim, fitted slacks and a bright, flamingo buttondown. Sunglasses tucked into his shirt pocket neatly. time - freeze - crease Bonnet was near the oranges, talking to a small girl with a big smile. He laughed again and the side of his face became the back of his head. Ed began to panic. Every time he wanted to make the first move, he chickened out. But not this time. He could be brave. He didn't have to be that person, he could be Ed. "Bonnet!" He called and watched Bonnet freeze. Golden curls whipped around to locate the source and found Ed. The crease in his brow smoothed, and a smile as big as the kid's spreads across his face.

Dance - Graze - Opposite It was like this every time Ed came in to do business with him. With golden hair and unreserved smiles and a combination of exactly-Ed's-brand-of-humor and being-just-strange-enough-to-keep-surprising-him. Stede Bonnet sat opposite from him at the boardroom table. His tie didn't match the bland black one Ed had taken to wearing daily for the last thirteen years. They'd made a little dance of this since their companies started working together - a look that lingered too long, followed by a stray smile; a subtle graze of the ankle. Always returned. Always met. But never followed up on by either one of them.

Stede is a 45-year old former hotel real estate investor, who has just signed his fortune to his almost ex-wife, having used only a small portion of it to buy an inn by the sea. Ed is a 47-year old CEO of Blackbeard's, the big resort in town. He's been terribly bored by it all for years, despite the huge success. Izzy has been pushing for yet another expansion, or even a second location – Ed's considering the latter on the off chance that would mean Izzy would run it and move far, far away. Stede's fingers traced the stark line of Ed's jaw. He'd been too shocked when he had seen it the first time. Hadn't appreciated the shape of it; the muscles working there; the smooth skin where a beard used to be. Now he did. He reveled in the feel of Ed's face under his fingertips. Lovingly trailed them up into his hair. Without the beard to distract, Ed's curls announced themselves like stormy clouds of silver and deep gray. He was magnificent. The hand in Ed's hair made the suggestion of closer and Ed was instantly compliant. Their lips met without anything in their way. Stede thought he could happily get used to Ed shaving.
