Where I am, for what little it is worth, is that the defectors were in fact defectors, and they blew the political opportunity. But we were not on the verge of extending the enhanced subsidies unless you can think of a way to get *House* Republicans on board.

And re-upping this today:
It's right to be angry that we're stuck in the no-win scenario. It's right to be angry at those who put us here (Republicans, their voters, their third-party/non-voter collaborators, media figures).

But that doesn't make it stop being no-win. We don't get to reprogram the simulation.

if kamala harris chats with black hebrew israelites and farrakhan fanboys, the press would have ignored it or treated it like a sideshow"?

Gotta love a journalist writing an obituary for someone who dies after her, just to make sure everyone knows what she thought about him when he finally kicks it.

The unreported, sweep it under the rug story is that Mamdani underperformed every other NYC Democratic candidate by double digits, across the board.

It's annoying to keep having to point this out, but the actual DNC has been behind Mamdani ever since he won the primary, which you wouldn't know by reading some posts on here.

You can still find videos of the Biden Administration's daily press briefings, and I shit you not, the #1 topic for probably half of them was 'Us and other Dems are awesome at running the economy, Republicans want to make us tailspin into a recession,' and the media would never print a word of it.
It’s funny to see how many people here are insisting that Dems never even try to make this case when I think of it as “Bill Clinton’s favourite stat” which he brings up variations of literally every time he has a chance lol

Not low key but a lot of leftist grifter accounts for years acted like they were going to be the vanguard of the revolution while yelling at normies, and they have proven themselves to be exactly as lacking as we believed.
I’ve seen what’s happened around here the last month, & who’s been getting in the faces of ICE/Border Parol & screaming so hard that they’re showering those masks of cowardice w the spittle of righteousness. So I don’t want see that condescending “wine mom” shit ever again

Another problem for the Democratic Party is that it is trying to talk to an electorate that is proud and willful in its ignorance.

And that includes the credentialed and degree-ed people, too.
As a key pillar of Democratic Party comms calling it the Inflation Reduction Act was problematic in itself because it ultimately confused low information voters about the intention and impact of key legislation.

Better to call it something like "Building Loads of Stuff For You" Act
The Inflation Reduction Act, which funded focused on energy production, on-shored manufacturing and improved infrastructure, but republicans voted against, and then showed up for photo ops when a project broke ground, created jobs and improved the lives of constituents in their state/district.

I've given my new Senator a lot of shit on here. But I don't think anyone with power has laid out the stakes of what we're facing as clearly as she does right here.

And if she's saying this, it's because she feels she must.

I was part of the internal Trump administration team trying to convince the president to end the shutdown in 2018 - 2019 — for 35 days — before people went hungry, workers lost pay, and government services collapsed.

Here’s what I learned: he doesn’t give a shit.

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”
It’s very telling that opening your publication to MAGA “thought” requires a massive downgrade in quality control.
