I honestly think we need to declare piracy of material by Russian companies entirely legal in the free world
you actually have a moral obligation to pirate them

it's literally not even just that you're giving ad revenue to a company that pays taxes in Russia. they quite literally have sent money and tanks to the war in Ukraine

the fun part about this one is that it's actually true because the Russian thunder run to Kyiv was launched from Belarus, a CSTO member, and they've also been doing most of their sanction busting via shell companies based out of other members in Central Asia

Like, whether you think CSTO/SCO expansion was good and smart or not, it is surely not up for debate that it was a central part of a policy that has now put Russia on the brink of all-out war with Europe, quite possibly without PRC support, and I see nobody at all asking whether that was clever

On some level this is the one big problem I have with 70%-80% of politics Hot Takes. I think multiculturalism versus its idiot enemies is basically the most important battle of our time and people who say we should focus on other things are basically somewhere between mendacious and delusional.

Finally read the entirety of Galina Rymbu's article. One of the best advocacies for leftist resistance in 🇺🇦 I've read to date. It also effectively explains how far-right actors infiltrate leftist spaces.

Something Dems (especially natsecs types) need to get through their thick skulls is the only way we might come back from this internationally is if the accountability for it is swift, broad, and punishing

Politicals, career type, in or out of govt c. 2029, no matter the rank, they all need to fry
European negotiators were personally targeted by their American counterparts during a brutal negotiation over green shipping rules, European Commission officials told POLITICO.

This highly unusual gambit left diplomats shaken after the meeting.

Negotiators at shipping talks in London were told both they and their countries could be punished unless they voted with the U.S.

For obvious reasons, this is a TERRIBLE idea. Facial recognition has high false positive rates for immigrants in particular!
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Please stop promoting the infantile myth that the US invades countries "for oil" The US has been the top single producer of oil for years.
Fentanyl and coke are the new “weapons of mass destruction” lie. It’s Iraq all over again, folks. It’s always about controlling the oil.

Everyone can be a big old realist and go on about how they can't see Ukraine recovering all its territory and that might well be true, but the factual reality is that Russia has sought to scale the walls of a single fortress city for a year and a quarter and so far completely failed.
