Stoke fear. Exploit desperation. Suspend the rule of law. Fan brutality.

Every time the stronger brutalize the weak, it’s fundamentally the same playbook.

Our duty is to stand up to brutality.

Our moral obligation is to protect the vulnerable and hold the powerful accountable.

what you clearly see, CLEARLY, is a driver who is spooked by the agents grabbing her door, takes steps to drive away, and is immediately shot as moves her vehicle *away* from the agents.

President Trump’s reckless weaponization of ICE is making our cities less safe and endangering people simply trying to lead their lives.  We need an investigation, and we need justice.

The Trump plan is to put money from Venezuelan oil sales into offshore accounts?

Sounds like a slush fund for Trump’s worst impulses and more evidence that his only concern is enriching himself and his big oil donors.

"An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from—not toward—a federal officer when he opened fire."

Great video analysis of Minneapolis shooting from NYT. These frames show drawing of gun and exact moment of first shot.

Going back to basics: government agents who use force without democratic accountability are an occupying force and the government deploying them is illegitimate. They're gonna have me waving the declaration of independence on the corner like a street preacher

The danger of this moment cannot be overstated. Trump/Noem's vile defense of the killing shows that the heavily-armed government agents roaming our cities are unbound/unaccountable even when they kill Americans.

On the pod, @felipedlh.bsky.social and I dig into this:

As the ICE shooting horror in Minneapolis gets worse, a writer who focuses on ICE accountability explains why the government’s cover story is full of holes—and what recourse we have now.

that they think they can spin this away while we have multiple angle shows is very worrisome
Nancy Mace: "It appears that the ICE agent was struck by the car, and in the first video you just showed you can see the agent limping away after he fired shots. So I agree with President Trump and Secretary Noem that this was an act of domestic terrorism. These were, it appears, paid agitators."

Gun massacre exists because Republicans prevent any remedy to gun murder. They prevent any remedy to gun murder because they want us to live in a world of easy and frequent massacre. The massacres are the point. Every massacre is part of the Republican plan; a war against its own citizenry.

They think they can murder anyone.

Don’t forget, Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and not lose any votes.

They shot a scared mom in the face three times.

And they’re lying about her, calling her a domestic terrorist.

They think they can literally do anything.

Anything.

Democrats should absolutely demand that the $170 billion given to DHS, ICE, and Border Patrol to build a kidnapping machine that preys on Americans should be clawed back and spent on whatever their state or district actually needs.

The result will be a lopsided, enforcement-only machine that will be hard to dismantle.

I hate to break it to you, but heavily-armed government militias are roaming unchecked through US cities and shooting human rights observers dead in the streets. That's happening in our country.
