The city's Open Streets program — a success birthed in the pandemic in 2020 — has run out of federal Covid funding and Mayor Adams has lost interest in supplementing it, Streetsblog has learned.

ICYMI, the Vanderbilt Open Street will only run on Saturdays this year. This is a completely volunteer-led program, and needless to say, it is a challenge to run. We need your help to ensure the program is the best it can be this year and is sustainable for years to come. Links below!

As suspected, now we know why Eric Adams never released the Underhill Avenue redesign survey: because it showed that the majority of people approved of the changes.

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges.

This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

It's amazing that all cities don't do this.
A million cars have disappeared: What NYC is like after one month of congestion pricing
Congestion pricing began on January 5. One month in, traffic is down, public buses are faster, and transit ridership is up.

"I'm willing to find common ground with fascists so long as a small number of drivers aren't charged $9 to bring their cars into the densest, most transit-rich city in the country" is a terrible look for Democrats.
Today I sent a letter to President Trump urging his Administration to reexamine New York’s congestion pricing scheme.

Congestion pricing is a disaster for New Jersey commuters and must receive the close look it deserves from the federal government.

what could possibly go wrong
Waymo (aka Google) admits that it trains its robotaxis to break the law. When WaPo reporter finds robotaxis fail to stop for pedestrians in marked crosswalk 70% of the time, Waymo says it follows "social norms" rather than laws.

Column | On roads teeming with robotaxis, crossing the street can be harrowing
Our tech columnist captured multiple video of Waymo self-driving cars failing to stop for him at a crosswalk. How does an AI learn how to break the law?

(Open street Map, Open data common ODbl & CC).
At low zoom levels it is intended for overviews of national cycling networks; at higher zoom levels it should help with planning which streets to cycle on, where you can park your bike and more.

Very nice to see a federal judge recognize that congestion itself is costly and there's considerable public interest in eliminating congestion. Someone please show this paragraph to Kathy Hochul.

If the @nyc-dot.bsky.social doesn't like this, is worried about it slowing down safety projects, then they should aggressively back Intro 1138 for universal daylighting in NYC. If universal daylighting is the law, a whole lot of curb space isn't technically "parking" anymore. @jehiah.cz

Thrilled to see CM Won introduce a universal daylighting bill for NYC!

This bill is great bc it sets targets for hardening AND carves out curb space in law, banning parking within 20' of crosswalks broadly — both essential to ensuring it will be effective.

The New York Times is giving a murder their “both-sides” treatment. What the hell is the matter with you?!? Someone kills a person with their car, and your reaction is to be like, “Some people think murder is bad, but others don’t like bike lanes, so 🤷‍♂️.”
