Broken record: The obsession with "kitchen table issues" imagines an electorate too obtuse or amoral to be reached by any appeal to abstract principle, morality, or any longer-term consideration than the immediate health of their bank account. If that's accurate, the game's already over.
Rep Adam Smith, highest ranking Dem on Armed Services Committee: The consultants keep telling me to talk about kitchen-table issues, but the rule of law is being utterly destroyed in America by Donald Trump.

It's extremely important for global security that every member of the Trump administration be hanged when this is over
The Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen to the United States:

“The Kingdom of Denmark, and thus Greenland, is a member of NATO and is therefore covered by the Alliance’s collective security guarantee.” I “strongly urge the United States to cease its threats.”

With so much chaos and uncertainty in this world, it's reassuring that the responses by Democratic leadership to Trump kidnapping Maduro and killing dozens of Venezeulans has been just as ambivalent and useless as everyone predicted.

There will no doubt be, as there always is when this comes up, a bunch of bogus claims, widely reported as true, that the War Powers Resolution authorizes the president to do whatever he wants for up to 60 or 90 days. This is not true. That is not what it says.

If, as seems likely, they grabbed Maduro but the regime doesn't otherwise change and it's just some other authoritarian stooge who takes over, what are we supposed to believe was accomplished?

To do what, exactly? The House will be back on Tuesday. You, as in literally you as an individual member of the House all on your own, could force a privileged vote on impeachment (among a variety of other possible measures) and it would then get a vote no later than Thursday.
Speaker Johnson must call the House of Representatives back into session immediately to reign in this out-of-control President.

Of course, extremely illegal and immoral. Everyone involved should be hanged. But if in your mind you're thinking another Iraq War, I don't think that's possible any time soon.

You don't have to listen to these professional liars who are barely trying. 9 months ago they were saying they were powerless to return a man they illegally sent to an El Salvador gulag because it would violate that country's national sovereignty
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."

The reason you go scorched-earth on this is the same reason we should have gone scorched-earth on impoundment; you can't stop it from happening, but you absolutely need to stop it from becoming a normal part of politics. You have to draw a line.

The Biden DOJ had a perfectly legal avenue to release this to the public—a response to a FOIA request. They may have even been legally obligated to produce it in response to the FOIA request. And they decided not to, to protect Donald Trump’s reputation? What?
Found the Associated Press article where the existence of this letter was first disclosed two years ago, in response to a FOIA request

It's definitely real

So CBS News paid President Trump millions to settle a baseless lawsuit over 60 Minutes editing a Kamala Harris interview the way they edit every interview, then a self-styled free speech champion took over CBS News and censored a 60 Minutes report exposing Trump admin actions, do I have that right?

So much of this popularism stuff misses a very basic point: your rational incentive is not to run up the score with the biggest margin possible. It's actually to win on the *fewest* votes possible. The smallest winning coalition is what gives each constituent part the biggest say once in power.

The person charged with enforcing the laws is an open lawbreaker, assisted by a team of open lawbreakers, backed by a Congressional majority indifferent to lawbreaking, supported by a Supreme Court that privileges them to break the law.

It has no legitimacy whatsoever.
