They just don't make em like they used to
Taking this opportunity to rehash my old thread on the 4 superb Tudor-inspired apartment buildings on Longwood Drive developed by William J. Burns and designed by Ronneberg, Inc. ca. 1929. Here is 10901-09 S. Longwood Dr.🐐

Gas stations along transit lines and wider stroads near hospitals

Our leaders are wise and have a great vision for this city
The most insane thing at the MDC today was that the city’s hearing examiner basically told a hospital that ‘we’re denying this petition to expand your surgery center unless you give us land to widen a road’

Worth noting the road looks like this and is parallel to a massive highway

It's time once again for my annual #treebybike post. This is the 12/19/42 cover of @newyorker.com, so one full year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This would be the first real Christmas alone, or without a family member, for millions in the US. Gas and tire rationing had begun earlier that year.🗃️

The redistricting bill just passed the Indiana House 57-41

But if those 41 No Votes had simply stayed home, the General Assembly wouldn't have had quorum to pass the bill during the special session

Obviously it's disappointing that I didn't win the inaugural FIFA Peace Award. I felt like I had a good shot at it, and that there was a case to be made. But I'm not giving up, and I will do whatever it takes to win the next one. They're definitely going to keep giving it out.

The Indy Department of Metropolitan Development denies infill housing in walkable neighborhoods for lacking parking and then approves large gas stations along transit lines

We are managed by absolute morons
The property, located at East Washington Street and Shortridge Avenue, has largely sat vacant for the past 20 years, with the exception of temporary produce and Christmas tree stands. https://tinyurl.com/yjksdahs

As a centrist, I think Donald Trump is bad, but the political and economic conditions that enabled him to become president twice are good

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

New Trump side character with insane name just dropped: Gentry Beach
Surprise! The “peace plan” is really just a plan for Trump, Witkoff, Don Junior and their friends to get rich.

Everything is a grift. (And the Hunter hunters are silent)

And how much Transportation is hidden in the other categories? What portion of Housing costs is the garage under your apartment building? What portion of Food is the sea of parking surrounding the supermarket? What portion of Healthcare is car-related injury and respiratory disease?
Transportation costs are the second largest burden on American family budgets (17%), after housing (33%)!
To address the affordability crisis, we must create cities with abundant housing of all types (subsidized, social, coop, market rate) and make walking, biking, and taking transit convenient.

Here in Indiana we stop solar projects and raise utility bills
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

It was already uncertain that Indiana would redistrict. Huston and Bray had no interest. Maybe we will be spared
really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt
