BC gives a lot of tax credits to switch but a tax credit is meaningless if someone doesnt have the HUGE amounts of money to rewire a house to add elective heat, never mind the duct work for HVAC

Wood/oil heat is pushed with a fan through vents, no duct work

I'm just saying as someone who lives in an area where ppl still burn wood and oil: these houses are 100+ years old and have no wiring for even baseboard electric heating and ppl dont have the $$$$$$$$ to switch

Not condoning it. Just saying, it's not simple
Wood burning stoves in residential areas are horrible for health, but just try passing any bylaws about it in a small Canadian town and you'll quickly learn how whiny folks can be about clearly harmful practices.
it is MIRACULOUS that we got rid of lead paint and asbestos when we did. if we had tried that today, there would be people whining about how we're restricting their rights.

“the USPS must turn a profit” makes me want to set things on fire

they put a clause in the fucking constitution about postal service, that’s how important it is

nothing in there about “only if you can make money on it”
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

also, Spotify doesn't pay royalties at all for tracks with less than a thousand streams.

and sometimes if an album gets a sudden surge of fan interest, Spotify deems it "unusual listening activity" and just removes the album, as happened to my last EP.
Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?

Thus reformed of his kid-beating, kid-stealing ways, the Krampus was released by Nick, though he asked to retain his chains so that they would always remind him of how NOT to help put right kids that are straying from the path of goodness, kindness, and charity... 4/

Bound by the magic of this holy relic, the Krampus had to accompany Santa for the next few years, and in observing his captor came to see that his punitive approach to kids wasn't the best way to ensure their good behavior or long-term character betterment after all. 3/

Kids from this area, terrified of the Krampus, started writing St Nicolas letters asking for his intercession, and Nick obliged. He and the Krampus had a rumble, and Santa successfully shackled the Krampus with the chains that had once held St. Paul of Tarsus. 2/

#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: The Krampus!
The Krampus was a rural giftgiver who would deliver presents to good Alpine children and stuff the naughty ones into his basket and take them back to his lair, where they would be forced to spend the next year making toys for good kids. 1/

You can leave a comment opposing the proposal, the government must acknowledge these comments. If enough people are against it, they won’t be able to change the ESA.

Here’s a guide for how to write effective comments and links to each piece of the proposal

The current administration has proposed 4 changes to the Endangered Species Act to severely weaken it so that economic interests (mining, logging, drilling, etc) take priority over conservation.

Scientists say that this will lead to the extinction of many species.

We have a chance to stop it!

I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think vainly, flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done.
Abolitionist John Brown was executed by the state of Virginia on December 2, 1859.
