Earth: 'Long COVID affects some children more than others'

'Experts estimate that millions of children around the world experience prolonged COVID symptoms. That scale makes the study’s message hard to ignore.'

Long COVID affects some children more than others
Research shows that long COVID risk in kids depends not only on the virus, but also on social and economic conditions at home.

Women aren’t responsible for being raped.

It doesn’t matter what she was wearing.

It doesn’t matter if she was drinking.

It doesn’t matter if she was alone with a guy.

The only person responsible for rape is the rapist.

Anyone saying otherwise is defending predators.

Woke up to my blooms swaying in the breeze this morning! This last blast of humidity coupled with warm sun bought them out. I am thrilled. I wonder what colour will bloom next. I have come to love dahlias.

I was in a grocery store this morning behind a big tattooed biker sized dude and was surprised to see him wearing a proper K95 mask when he turned around to pay the cashier.😷

If you’re chronically ill and don’t feel like making New Year’s resolutions… that’s ok.

It’s ok even if you’re not chronically ill.

If all you did this year was survive, celebrate that.

It’s not easy to survive end stage capitalism and rising fascism.

Survival is resistance.

Maybe I'm the odd one out because these viral posts are popular right now, but I don't find them funny or entertaining. Children are dying of these viruses. These vids with massive reach help normalize it while providing no concrete info to parents on how to prevent illness

I can’t visualise anything. My “mind’s eye” is blind. If I want to picture an apple, I can’t. Nor can I evoke the view outside my front door at home in London — I have to open the door and look at it. I have aphantasia.

Fascinating
I have no mind’s eye. I thought that was normal until I was 53
When Harriet Challis recognised her aphantasia, or inability to conjure mental images, her life as a photographer began to make more sense

Soon after the Diamond Princess was quaranteed, Hiroshi Oshitani of Tohoku Univ was on Japanese TV saying that COVID is aiborne. His reasoning: 9 health workers who boarded soon tested positive and this would be highly unlikely if not airborne. 1 or 2 might screw up if not airborne, but not 9.

This is written as a joke I think… but I do this for the kids that haven’t learned to read yet. Then they can watch their favourite show being read to them. Seems to get them interested in the associated books too.
My New Years resolution is to read more so I put the subtitles on my tv.

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

Unacceptable.

How many other diseases are on the list of “don’t test or we’ll have to close beds” list? Huh?

MRSA? TB? VRE? Measles?

Who’s in the hospital wishing they could be at home.

Who’s caring for someone who’s sick and having a difficult time.

The holidays hit different for us and that’s ok.
