Things climate scientists should not have to say:

A thermometer reading doesn’t depend on how you vote.

No, those jets are not spewing mind control exhaust.

Yes, an oil exec really does make a lot more than we do.

And no, it’s not volcanoes, natural cycles, or the sun. We really have checked.

Plus, activity =/= productivity. The US spends 17% on healthcare for worse outcomes than Europe gets for ~10%. That 7% is: paper pushers navigating a highly complex system, faceless committes whose job is to deny you care, over-testing, over-treatment, overcharging. It's not productive. It's waste.

If all of us who want climate action were to focus all of our energy just on the fossil fuel industry first until we've taken away their political power, I think we could get climate action accomplished much faster personally.

EVs beat petrol cars on lifetime emissions — even on “dirty” grids.
Battery production is carbon-intensive, but EVs quickly repay that debt and end up 21–71% cleaner over 250,000 km.

We can’t wait for perfect grids: electrify transport and clean the grid now.

Nat gas being cheap until its not is one of those things i'm glad not to worry about. Like ideally you can get mostly heatpump + solar and just completely cover yourself from energy price volatility
nat gas +8%. this thing is going berserk over $5 for only the 2nd time in a decade

Skyrocketing EV sales of not just autos but also trucks and buses will keep reducing every year China's oil consumption for transportation.

2025 oil transport consumption will be down ~7.2%, compared to 2023!

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

In 2017, Danish Oil and Natural Gas (DONG Energy, I am 100% not kididing) changed to Orsted, which is a leading offshore wind company.
Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

As @glenpeters.bsky.social says, we're way off target for any 1.5°C scenario.

To see how far off, each of the red/green bars represents the decrease in CO₂ emissions during COVID. Even if we achieved that from now until the end of 2030, we would still miss our 1.5°C target by a significant margin.

Trump claimed at the UN: “They [China] build them, but they have very few wind farms. So why is it that they build them and they send them all over the world, but they barely use them?”

Answer is: they actually do. China has more wind power than any other country.
