It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

A couple of years ago, I posted that if people wanted to understand how to operate in hostile "information environments" they would be much better off listening to union organizers than disinformation experts. I still basically believe that.

The thing about the right is that they never give up. The events we interpret as historical watersheds are temporary setbacks to them. Reconstruction, the German Revolution of 1918-19, the New Deal, the end of apartheid. All of those things were eventually avenged in spades.
