Like we really need to internalize that the response to fascism is to reject any equivalence between violent, supremacist, or exceptionalist ideologies & other ideologies that are defensive, communal, or constructive. Even when the former masquerade as the latter. You just have to reject that.

This was really good. I am not as high on it as most people seem, but still a really good movie. Not nearly as gnarly as people made it out to be, but there was a scene or two that were certainly gross as hell lol

I get it but I really dislike the "the political climate is tense" phrasing the same way I don't like the "Gaza war" phrasing - we're foregoing that one side is people who want to live and the other side is people who have more power and both the means and intent to destroy and harm.

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

The Washington Post is using bothsidesism to justify everything Trump is doing.

From yesterday on political purges in the military. They compared it to covid vaccine policies.
Alt text:
A screenshot of a paragraph from an article with white text on a black background. The text discusses Hegseth’s actions since taking office, stating that he has challenged traditional norms by saying as recently as last week that generals and admirals should resign if they don’t support the Trump administration’s policies. It compares this to the Biden administration’s coronavirus vaccine mandate, which led to the dismissal of thousands of troops.

It always amuses me how few people seem to grasp that food assistance programs and international food aid are in fact agricultural subsidy, not charity.

Trump’s tariffs and cutbacks are bankrupting farmers. He thinks they’ll keep supporting him no matter what, but his approval numbers say otherwise.
Tweet from Amy Klobuchar that reads:
“27 million pounds of chicken
2 million gallons of milk
67 million eggs
That’s how much food grown by American farmers never made it to hungry families because of the administration’s decision to cancel deliveries to food banks.”
Below the text is an image showing trucks on a highway with a banner labeled “CANCELED” and a caption: “Trump Canceled 94 Million Pounds of Food Aid.” The source line reads: “From projects.propublica.org.”

Jason Blum says Hollywood should 'embrace AI' and viewers 'don't care if what they’re looking at is AI"

"it’s here to stay. It’s very important to use it ethically and legally, and for studios and guilds to protect the copyright of the artists"

In one week, people will be getting their hands on (digital) copies of my new book. In about a week people will be reading ARCs of Unfold. Surreal, exciting, and anxiety-inducing lol

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

basically this. your favorite small art house studio uses AI and it helped make expedition 33, which everyone seems to be willing to give a pass. clearly its not a hard line for some people especially if it wins game of the year awards

Every time someone I respected, especially creatives, posts one of those fad horror AI portraits, I die a LOT inside.

I’m very close to not alive at this point.

There’s an interview going around about AI, so before there are any questions, let me state unequivocally that BLACK PHONE 2 is 100% organic. AI was not used at any stage of the filmmaking from idea generation, research, look books, writing, onscreen images - anything. We’re old school and love it.

Jason Blum's take on AI sucks. an AI takeover isn't inevitable, and treating it as such (while also referring to filmmaking as "content creation," smdh) helps AI companies promote the lie that their deeply unprofitable, destructive tech is more powerful and useful than it actually is.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

You don’t need AI; AI is not “inevitable.” That’s a lie being fed to you by companies who are going to lose a fuckton of money if they don’t convince you that AI is something you can’t live without.
