Agree completely with this thread. This is and should be treated as criminal. bsky.app/profile/expl...
Failing to anticipate people would use your image generation bot to make consentless-pornography should be criminal incompetence.

Failing to include safeguards against it should be criminal negligence.

Failing to shut it down once (a) and (b) became obvious should be criminal distribution.

One funny thing Elon Musk figured out about the media is if, instead of providing comment to reporters, you email back an automated reply saying "go fuck yourself," the reporters will just invent their own plausible-sounding defense of your conduct to balance their stories instead of punishing you

This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)

There is, to my mind, no justification for the continued use by the UK Government of X as a platform for official comms. There hasn't been for some time, in fact, but if the latest developments around AI-generated image abuse and CSAM don't change the policy I really don't know what will.

The Government coming off X is the bare minimum and realistically at this point I think we should seriously be looking at taking enforcement action against the company, in line with the Online Safety Act and VAWG Strategy. I will be pressing the Government on this when Parliament returns next week.

Just can't believe this. Get off Twitter. Especially you, Starmer. If a company you know uses Twitter, don't buy from it. Use your power.

Grok Can't Apologize. Grok Isn't Sentient. So Why Do Headlines Keep Saying It Did?
Elon Musk’s chatbot has been “undressing” women and children in public. Journalists are letting xAI off the hook by pretending the bot is responsible.

Ooh look, we’re seeing the “let’s attempt to deflect blame to the artificial construct that is The Demon Machine instead of the actual, breathing, fallible humans who made the Demon Machine” maneuver play out in real time!
AI cannot take accountability. AI cannot be “sorry.”

You have no control over the outputs of AI if you did not make it yourself, train it on very specific data sets, and create extremely rigorous control methods. Even then the safeguards are limited.

The creators must be held accountable

A growing number of Labour MPs thought this needed a proper review last year: next week may see this cut through

NEW: People are using Elon Musk's chatbot, Grok, to alter images to depict real women being sexually abused, humiliated, hurt, and even killed.

But never forget that this is the same Nigel Farage who allegedly made hissing noises and whispered "Hitler was right" to a Jewish contemporary at school.

Things he has NEVER apologised for.
