Lately, every time I see someone in public holding their phone in front of their face while taking a call on speaker, I think of this. I'm never going to get used to it

WaPo on proposals to end Daylight Savings Time: "the country may be too spread out for a one-size-pleases-all solution. Depending on your latitude and how close you are to the edge of your time zone, you could end up with some unexpected daylight extremes."

Analysis | No daylight saving time? See how early or late you would be in the dark.
Would you be okay if the sun rose before 4 a.m., or after 10? Not changing clocks is a popular idea, but we’d have to live with the extremes.

Well sure, single stair reform is a good and necessary change in the big city of [checks notes] Jackson, TN, but why do we need to make housing types more accessible and adaptable in Nashville? (cc @rollinhorton.bsky.social @emilyfor7.bsky.social @quinevanssegall.bsky.social )
Jackson, TN approved a Single Stair Housing Ordinance during this week's city council meeting.

“Our goal with this ordinance is to make housing more accessible and adaptable while ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents”-Mayor Conger

I'm not this extreme, but I prefer (and usually get) a written message first. I'm happy to do voice calls, but I hate being forced to switch contexts immediately (if I'm available) or play phone tag (if I'm not). Any interaction that ends up involving voicemail is bound to be a terrible experience.
i am sorry to my gen x coworkers but you have to understand i am never, under any circumstances, going to answer a teams call without a message outlining why we need to talk first

On the high school newspaper, they'd mock anyone who used passive voice *twice* in headline/subhead presentation.

But in the big leagues...

Someone decided this made sense.

Korea Expert here. I’ll explain what’s going on over there because the Orient can be confusing to Westerners. In Korea, there is a concept known as “the law.” (법) This is a set of rules which are enforced to encourage prosocial behavior and ensure stability which leaders aren’t allowed to break.

Microsoft, you've been making Macintosh software for literally forty years, since before Windows was even a shipping product. You know as well as anyone that this is not the way to represent a keyboard shortcut.

Fwiw she is pretty widely disliked even by her GOP colleagues. She’s all over the place. Messy. Fights with them too.

This is the most attention she has gotten in ages despite her many attempts, hence the differences in tack some have taken in this whole brouhaha. She really craves it. It’s weird
Does somebody need to do a wellness check on Nancy Mace? She is absolutely unhinged. She continues to tweet about trans people and bathrooms.

Built in 1978, the project is the oldest example of mid-rise single-stair housing constructed in Seattle since single-stair >3 stories was legalized in 1977
