I see a lot of people posting about supporting local businesses, local food banks, etc. I completely agree, but will add: If your city has any sort of local arts scene, throw them some $. Buy some art. See a local theater production. Tip your hometown drag queen.

there's an interesting idea threaded through the last three or four Jurassic Park movies: mega corporations are convinced cloning dinosaurs is worth a huge amount of money somehow but it never ever pans out
