It’s telling that it’s *always* about making someone else do the hard labor, and never volunteering for it yourself.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow
As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

You cannot shame people who feel no shame. You cannot guilt people who feel no guilt. You cannot argue with people whose minds are closed. You can only stand in their way.

'Muammar Gaddafi, the expanded executive authority of Libya.
Mobutu Sese Seko, the expanded executive authority of Congo.
François Duvalier, the expanded executive authority of Haiti.'

A bit convoluted to write it like this every time. Wonder if there was just a single word for these people...? 🤔

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

I've decided to add "for the revolution" to everything I do. I'm working out for the revolution. I'm grocery shopping for the revolution. I'm cleaning the kitchen for the revolution.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

The Big Story about higher ed I want to read is abt the staggering increase in tuition at public unis, gutting of regional comprehensives, and the collapse of state funding that made that happen.
