Elizabeth Warren on people who say Dems needs to tone down their rhetoric: "Oh, please. Why don't you start with the president of the United States? And every ugly meme he's posted and every ugly word."

I agree this is a moment when we all need to work together in getting the temperature down, but that doesn't mean excusing hate speech. Charlie Kirk did not support free and open debate. He supported engaging in bad faith as a monetization strategy and otherwise suppressing free speech.

The left isn’t “dancing on Charlie Kirk’s grave,” we’re just pointing out that, thanks to rhetoric like his, a lot of other graves exist.

Remembering MN house speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their beloved dog Gilbert. Murdered in June at their home by a rightwing Trump-voting evangelist, who also shot another MN lawmaker and his wife at THEIR home, 9 and 8 times, respectively (miraculously, they survived).

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

What the GOP says: "We need to tone down the dangerous political rhetoric."

What they mean: "We'll keep calling you communists and pedophiles but you can't call us fascists or racists."

90 years ago today, Social Security became the law of the land.

9 decades later, and Republicans are cutting benefits, raising the retirement age, & handing seniors hard-earned money to Wall Street.

Our elders deserve to retire in dignity & receive their earnings in full.

Some of the crimes I've seen in Washington DC:

— Beige sweater with beige chinos
— Jacket sleeve tag left on
— Tan shoes with navy suits
— Giant Windsor knots (triple felony with the metal sports watch paired with dark suit and French cuffs)

Note to Kristi Noem:

It is far better to be mocked in a cartoon for how you look than to be shoved into the back of a U-Haul and kidnapped for how you look.

Remember: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.

A video arguing that women shouldn’t be able to vote was just shared by Trump’s Secretary of Defense, the guy in charge of our whole military.

And Democratic Party leaders still can’t stand up to this administration?! Our rights are on the line and all our party leaders offer us is silence.

The Confederates always used "state's rights" when it was convenient and the feds to control the states when it wasn't.

We are still fighting the confederates...they weren't punished well enough and they never went away.

Also, the Founders took bribery so seriously the Constitution bans it 3 separate times.

We should have the House right now. Let me say it again: we should have the House.

This ain’t just a Texas problem, it’s a national problem. They’re stealing seats to keep power, and that’s how we ended up with Speaker Johnson instead of Speaker Jeffries.

They can’t win fair, so they cheat.

Democratic voters don’t want passive or “reach across the aisle” politics while we are fighting literal fascism.

Look at Texas Democrats. Fight like that. We’ll reward you at the polls.

Stand up. Link arms. Draw a line in the sand. Tell the Republicans we won’t put up with this shit. Fight back.

"Extortion" is the correct term, factually and legally. This wasn't hard-ball negotiating. Trump unlawfully harmed them, threatened more illegal actions, and made demands to stop.

It's no more a "deal" than if you acquiesced when a cop punched you then demanded you give him $100 or he'd arrest you.
It is not “deal-making.” It is extortion built on Christopher Rufo’s idea of “taking down” one or more elite university.

Well, I’m gonna insist that you listen to this.

Definition of terms:

“these people” = Latino migrants

“Inner city people” = Black people

“We tried to get them [inner city people] to do it” = slavery & sharecropping
