So I was wondering why people made a fuss about Yakuza 0 Director's Cut.

Then I looked it up.

...Yeah, I don't think people should be allowed to do Director's Cuts anymore. If you're going to retcon major deaths, at least just proudly do it in a future game! Like... uh, Yakuza...

Look all jokes aside I think a game that retailed for $50 and had a reasonable, sustainable budget sweeping the awards is probably a good message to send to the industry, if it's even capable of listening.

It's so funny how they had to pretend that Leon wasn't going to appear in RE9 for like 4 months after it leaked.

As always, I am doing the healthy and ethical thing: waiting for the folks I follow to live tweet the game awards so I don't have to watch them myself.

I will go to my grave screaming about how Pennywise being a clown hits completely different for anyone under 40 or 50, because the original intent was that Pennywise LOOKED HARMLESS, because “IT” predates scary clowns, & if the story were modern, Pennywise would manifest as a ninja turtle or Luffy
Welcome to Derry reveals why It loves to use the form of Pennywise the Clown so much.

"Routine" is incredible.

A rare horror game that truly unnerved me. With an environment so meticulously framed and lit that every moment of this experience leaves an impression.

A honed aesthetic that makes expert use of tactile analog tech and liminality both in service of gameplay and identity.

I was thinking about Hard Games discourse again and sometimes I feel like people talk about Souls games like they are Fear and Hunger.

They ABSOLUTELY have a lot in common.

But like, you won't find a Literal Coin Flip that can Insta-Kill you in a Souls game.

refering to ursula k. le guin's thoughts on tech for a videogame mechanics discussion

walls are a mechanic, turning is a mechanic, hitstun is a mechanic, jumping is a mechanic, physics are a mechanic, a ton of load-bearing mechanics aren't really that flashy and they don't need to be

My little brother had an idea for a game while he was still just a kid in high school. 8 years later, he has managed to bring UNBEATABLE to reality through nothing but blood, sweat and tears, and with the incredible contributions of his teams at @dcellgames.com and @playstack.com

It's funny how there's a few plot points in Steel Ball Run that would make me sound like an insane person, even to someone that has read/watched Parts 1 to 6

The idea of a DVD being "a copy of your favorite movie/TV show that YOU own forever" probably sounds like the ultimate cheat code to the generation who has only know the streaming ecosystem and, as such, more aware of its shortcomings.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Idk I don't rly like the sentiment that "as a creator you should be super passionate about everything you make or you're not a real creator"
Being able to work on stuff you aren't personally super enthralled by is a skill in and of itself

I'm going to be obtuse and say I don't agree with this because I've done a lot of freelance writing work for people over the years that I had no strong personal attachment to & no desire to discuss it
But my personal feelings abt my work don't change the time + effort I put in to make it 😔

the young groyper republican is, like, excluding for income, the *textbook* example of a target for radicalization by basically every extremist group in human history, just a self-hating human-shaped vessel waiting to be filled up by the darkest thing that comes along
they've just never had to work hard for anything, they've never had to fight for anything, they're never satisfied with their efforts, they've never had anything they wanted to fight *for*, they don't believe in anything or anyone, including themselves

This is something about "AI" that I have a hard time putting into words, but creators just love the WORK. It's just fun. Even when it's hard. All the thinking, and all the detail work, and all the struggle, it makes the things we make, I don't know... have weight and value for us.

Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.
