It is an important book, surprisingly spare in the “big tech is coming for our children” department. Wouldn’t you think social media is killing expertise? At first I was annoyed, but there were many strong and original points about cultural and cognitive contributors to Dunning-Kruger.
I think engineers are especially prone to Trumpism, for reasons that are complex but have to do mostly with narrow expertise and a belief in yes/no, right/wrong solutions. I wrote about this problem in The Death of Expertise:
