A large body of research shows that building market rate homes in a neighborhood makes nearby housing more affordable, but it appears that #LosAngeles Mayor Karen Bass is either unaware of that research or doesn't believe it.

Trump Admin is planning to ask Congress to dramatically cut funding for transit as part of the 2026 infrastructure law.

The proposal would eliminate the transit account, which funds billions of dollars in capital expenses. It would also prevent states from “flexing” roads funds for transit.
POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding
DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

It’s good to see one of these tweets and be like, “Oh yeah: done and done. On to the next issue.”
I’ve worked on parking policies in a lot of cities, and every city should be looking at getting rid of minimum parking requirements, while considering maximum parking requirements downtown & around transit stations.

At an absolute minimum though, REMOVE PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING.

MY left-YIMBY millennial Mayor has been signing every zoning reform bill that comes across his desk, is asking for even more to he sent his way, and is now playing Subway Builder on stream. What is your mayor getting into these days?

‘Truly disappointing’ to see @bmorerenters.bsky.social shut down comments on this post just because it was being pointed out that actual Affordable housing groups like Habitat for Humanity and Healthcare for the Homeless testified in support of these bills. It’s a matter of record - why hide it?

Amtrak’s span of service could really be better. I should be able to catch a Northeast Regional out of DC at 2 AM. What’s the point of having this Center of Global Empire if it’s only a 9-5 city?

The assumption here is that there is compelling research or data for the existing land use or that there is no need to justify the status quo.

"Baltimore City real estate is not a closed market"

Yes, that's precisely why zoning cannot be controlled at the local level.

bsky.app/profile/mich...
Local control over zoning is a government failure, because restrictive zoning imposes a negative externality on non-residents who are priced out. Higher-level governments need to set zoning policy to internalize the externality.

Not that it was ever in doubt, of course! Mayor Scott aggressively pushed for this housing package

And we’re not done yet, folks! The Planning Commission unanimously approved Bill 25-0066 - Allowing low-density multi-family where only single-family is currently allowed. Now, ➡️ to the Land Use & Transportation Committee

This one allows SFH➡️MFH conversions broadly, and may be the toughest fight

Like, I get that they don’t want you to make any claims, but …come on. Take a little pride in how you present yourselves!
