Too busy defending the honour of foreign militaries.

There is one very vocal barrister on here, usually quick to jump to the defence of his profession, whose take I'd be interested to see.

As a Senior Counsel, I'm sure the Minister wouldn't dream of making an allegation like that without citing which specific rules he says went unfollowed?

So hang on the government line is now that the gardaí were aware that someone they deemed a potential security threat being let into Leinster House every day, but did nothing about it and told nobody?

This story has never made any sense, even less so now

I spent the week at the police surveillance convention and let me tell you my biggest observation: The name of the game now is consolidating as much information as humanely possible from surveillance devices, the internet, other governmental data, and literally a million other places. 🧵

It's telling that lots of people who talk about the rule of law in Ireland are not bothered by a legally protected State database being violated to influence an election because the candidate in question is one they don't like.

I think we've all seen in recent days how readily our private information will be accessed and shared if it's politically expedient #Spéirgorm

They say it’s to protect children, but this new EU law would let AI scan every message we send.
That means our private moments; photos, chats, confessions, could be monitored forever.

"Can't afford" energy credits, can afford €1.7 Billion on corporate tax breaks.

It's austerity in a time of plenty! The government sits on €20-25 Billion in rainy day funds, but the government refuses to invest any of it in infrastructure we desperately need.

It's crazy how they're trying to push the 'Russia having control over our decisions as a sovereign nation' nonsense, at the same time as the U.S. is actively gutting legislation in our parliament.

Absolutely fuming at this Derelict Property Tax move in #Budget25 - any change like this will take years to bed in, meanwhile any efforts to collect the legacy Derelict Site Levy will be abandoned while councils wait for new legislation.

A gigantic win for property speculators. Smells like FFG.

A lot of speculation about how things got so Stupid and Evil and I think one reason is we've collectively been too tolerant of Stupid and Evil for too long

Gript is not a Media outlet, Ben Scallan is not a journalist. Why are we giving these right wing polemicists the time of day?

The final questions asked of Jim Gavin in his presidential campaign were from Ben Scallan of Gript about trans women in sport.

Weird framing of this article aside, Jim Gavin ran an unregistered tenancy where he apparently never refunded an accidental overpayment of €3,300.

...it's fine for a potential future president to stiff a renter out of thousands of euro, apparently?
